JOB TITLE: Warehouse-Logistician
LOCATION: Lorton, VA
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the establishment in which employed and receiving incoming shipments.
• Perform day-to-day, routine tasks, follows established guidelines. Handle unusual non-routine problems; receive specific guidance from supervisor or other officials.
• Coordinate the activities of other contractor employees, under this task order, to engage in handling goods to be shipped or being received if needed.
• Shipping duties typically involve the following with federal oversight:
o Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents;
o Insuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles;
o Preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading, and government internal documents.
• Agency will provide training for proprietary inventory system for warehouse support staff.
• Receiving duties typically involve the following:
o Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records;
o Checking for damaged goods;
o Insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment;
o Preparing and keeping records of goods received.
• As directed, perform a variety of warehousing duties, which require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan.
• Work involves most of the following:
o Verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damage; routing materials to prescribed storage locations;
o Storing stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods’ rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials;
o Examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage;
o Removing material from storage and preparing for shipment.
• Maintain an environment of safety while operating power equipment in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Equipment may include: forklifts, power trucks, and packing machines. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma
• Five (5) years’ warehousing experience.
• Forklift Training that meets or exceeds OSHA requirements
• Current DHS Suitability HIGHLY DESIRED
• This position requires applicants to successfully obtain a NACI background check, prior to starting.
